Binding 13 will be the focus of Season 1, telling the romantic-but-heartbreaking story of Johnny and Shannon. The adaptation was first announced in February 2026, and updates have been arriving steadily ever since. Swooon has gathered all the latest series details, including the release date, full cast list, and more below.
What is Boys of Tommen‘s release date?
When the series was announced, Deadline reported that production is slated to start in 2026. The show could drop sometime in 2027, depending on when filming begins. Presumably, Boys of Tommen will follow Prime Video’s standard rollout for a new show, releasing all eight episodes of Season 1 at once.

What is Boys of Tommen about?
Season 1 has been confirmed to cover the events of Walsh’s two novels, Binding 13 and Keeping 13. Set in 2005, both books follow Johnny Kavanagh, a star rugby player bound for the pros, and Shannon Lynch, a new student at Tommen College.
Shannon smart and strong, but severely shy. Despite coming from opposite worlds, they’re drawn to each other. They’re also both keeping secrets: Johnny has a potentially career-ending injury, and Shannon was bullied at her previous school and is abused at home.
“It’s just an unbelievable constellation of characters, but it’s also got such a specificity for place and the time,” Prime Video executive Nicole Clemens told Deadline. “It talks about abuse, about bullying, about mental health, and it’s about love. It’s a romance series.”
There are six books in the series so far, and Clemens already addressed the possibility of capturing the entire breadth of the story. “Who knows how many we do, but hopefully it goes for a long time,” she told Deadline. “There’s plenty of material and plenty of incredible, rich characters.”
Who is in the Boys of Tommen cast?
Newcomer Nancy Surridge will appear as Shannon, and Conor Sánchez (Mix Tape) will star opposite her as Johnny. Shannon’s troubled but protective older brother, Joey Lynch, will be brought to life by James O’Donoghue. Sophie McGibbon will play his love interest, Aoife Molloy. Both couples lead their own books in Walsh’s series.
Boys of Tommen director Brendan Canty said per Advanced Television, “To do justice to the world they’ve created, we knew that finding the right cast was going to be everything. We searched far and wide, receiving over 3000 casting suggestions from across the UK and Ireland, but from the moment Nancy, Conor, James and Sophie walked into the room, it was clear we’d found something beyond special. Each of them brings the spirit and emotional depth this story demands, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring Chloe’s world to the screen with this extraordinary young cast.”

“These characters have lived in the hearts and minds of millions of readers, and the response to them has been overwhelming, so finding the right cast was incredibly important,” added executive producer Poppy Cogan, per Advanced Television.
She continued, “Chloe has created such a rich, emotionally vivid world in these books, and as the writer adapting this story for screen it’s been a privilege to be entrusted with bringing that world to life. I’m thrilled beyond words that we’ve found our Shannon, Johnny, Joey and Aoife in Nancy, Conor, James and Sophie — they are the perfect people to embody these roles.”
On June 25, Prime Video revealed eight new cast members, which may eventually lead their own seasons if all of Walsh’s books are adapted. Amelia May plays Claire Biggs, John Hewson — the son of U2 singer Bono — is Gerard Gibson, Indy Lewis is Lizzie Young, Alex Dunne is Hughie Biggs, Dixie Egerickx is Katie Wilmot, Daisy Jacob is Bella Wilkinson, Jonathan Heed is Cormac Ryan, and Cathal Ó Síocháin is Ronan McGarry.
The show is still looking for an actor to play Patrick Feely. In the meantime, read more about the actors and characters in Swooon‘s guide.
