What To Know

  • Blue Ivy Carter made her Met Gala debut in 2026.
  • She attended the fashion event with her parents, Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
  • The 2026 Met Gala saw a break from the usual 18-and-over rule, with several teenagers, including Blue Ivy and Nicole Kidman’s 17-year-old daughter, attending the event.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z made a grand entrance at the 2026 Met Gala alongside their daughter Blue Ivy Carter. Their oldest child made her Met Gala debut at just 14 years old.

“It feels surreal because my daughter’s here,” the “Halo” singer, who co-chaired the event, told Vogue on the red carpet. Blue Ivy looked beautiful in a strapless white dress that she paired with a matching jacket. She looked effortlessly cool with a pair of shades on as she walked the red carpet. At 14, is Blue Ivy making history as the youngest Met Gala attendee ever? Let’s dive in.

Blue Ivy is certainly one of the youngest Met Gala guests ever, but she’s not the youngest. Elle Fanning made her Met Gala debut at 13 years old in 2011. Blue Ivy joins Hailee Steinfeld as the two stars who made their Met Gala debuts at 14.

Blue Ivy wasn’t the only teenager at the 2026 Met Gala. Fellow Met Gala co-chair Nicole Kidman was joined by her 17-year-old daughter, Sunday Rose Urban, on fashion’s biggest night. The appearance of such younger stars is a break from established Met Gala rules. In 2018, the Met Gala began enforcing the rule that all attendees must be at least 18 years old. Not this year!

The 2026 Met Gala was a major moment for the Carter family. The event marked Bey’s first Met Gala appearance in 10 years. She hadn’t even had her twins, Rumi and Sir, yet the last time she attended! However, Bey and Jay didn’t bring the entire family to the Met Gala. Twins Rumi and Sir stayed at home this year. “She looks so beautiful,” Bey gushed about Blue. “It’s incredible to be able to share it with her.”

Blue Ivy is no stranger to red carpets. She’s been joining her parents at awards shows for years. The teenager notably made a public appearance at the 2025 Grammys to support her mom.
