What To Know

  • The Season 1 finale of Every Year After ends with a major cliffhanger.
  • Season 2 would follow the plot of One Golden Summer.
  • Viewers are eager to see how the adaptation will address the blossoming love triangle between Chantal, Delilah, and Jordie.

We’re leaving Barry’s Bay with more questions than answers in the best possible way.

During the Season 1 finale of Every Year After, viewers were faced with a major cliffhanger. While Sam (Matt Cornett) and Percy (Sadie Soverall) are heading into a new chapter together, Charlie (Michael Bradway) ends the season confronted with a nostalgic photograph and a major health scare. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)

While we have some clues about Charlie’s open-ended future from Carley Fortune‘s sophomore Barry’s Bay novel, One Golden Summer, seeing what happens in the finale’s last moments has definitely caused readers and viewers alike to question what’s next for the beloved book boyfriend.

At the same time, expanding the world of Every Summer After has given us far more Chantal (Aurora Perrineau), Delilah (Abigail Cowen), and Jordie (Joseph Chiu) content than we could have ever imagined. Now, we’re just as curious about their blossoming love triangle as we are about the books’ endgame couples.

Scroll to read all of the burning questions we are dying to see answered during Every Year After Season 2, and let us know in the comments below if there’s anything we missed.

What happened to Charlie?

We’re starting off with a biggie. At the end of the season, Charlie appears to have a heart attack, mirroring the health scare he reveals he had in One Golden Summer before the events of the book take place. However, this appears to be far more severe than what Fortune describes on the page.

Will Sam forgive Charlie?

By now, readers are well aware of one major change between the book and the adaptation. While Fortune revealed that Charlie had told Sam about his hook-up with Percy long ago, making his immediate forgiveness even sweeter, the adaptation takes that moment in a different direction. On screen, Sam learns about their one-night stand when Percy confesses the truth a decade later. While Sam eventually forgives Percy, we have yet to see any reconciliation between the Florek brothers. Could a health scare bring them closer together or tear them further apart?

When did Percy and Delilah have their falling out?

One moment we see on the page that isn’t addressed in the adaptation is when Percy and Delilah stopped talking. In the book, Percy says some really cruel things to Delilah after finding out that Sam tried to flirt with her in college. Seeing as Delilah and Sam don’t go to college together in the series (at least as far as we know), this moment probably shook out a little differently. Here’s to hoping for more flashbacks during Season 2.

Will Jordie end up with Chantal or Delilah?

Speaking of Delilah, are we going to get a full-fledged love triangle next season? While Jordie and Chantal get together in one of Season 1’s final scenes, Delilah can be seen across The Tavern, yearning for either what they have or Jordie himself. As everyone knows, Jordie had a massive crush on Delilah as a teen, and we’d love to see him confronted with a choice between the two paths.

Will Delilah and Percy be successful business owners?

Delilah and Percy becoming business owners was not a move we expected at the start of the season, but we absolutely love it. During the second season, we’d love to see more of this duo and more of the Tavern itself.

Roan Curtis as Taylor in Every Year After

Will Taylor come back?

Honestly, we loved Roan Curtis as Taylor and want to see her return to Barry’s Bay. Sure, she may not want to come back to the lakeside town where her boyfriend broke up with her the second his high school sweetheart reentered the picture. That said, she and Percy would probably get along if they got to know each other. Why not join the squad?

Who will play Alice?

On the subject of joining the squad, we would be remiss not to talk about our girl Alice Everly. While we’re sure she will be the heart of a potential second season, one burning question remains: Who will Prime Video cast as Charlie Florek’s leading lady?
