After chatting about becoming parents, Pamela Chavez is looking at her relationship with Jay Manuel in a new light.

During Swooon‘s exclusive preview of the July 28 episode of Jay & Pamela Season 2, a conversation about household chores becomes a candid conversation about sharing responsibilities. At the start of the video, Pamela asks her husband for some help folding laundry, saying, “I would greatly appreciate it.”

Surprisingly, Jay responds, “Oh, definitely not.” He argues that he plans on putting it away, so it’s Pamela’s job to fold it… Even though she’s the one who did the laundry. “I know it’s petty,” he explains. “However, I am not her child, and it’s like, ‘Girl, you ain’t going to tell me I’m doing it. Let me see you do it first.”

“Typically, I would just let things slide,” Pamela shares. “But now things are not working out, especially with the conversation about potentially being new parents.”She then tells Jay, “If we really do want to have a child, there’s no such thing as, ‘You do it.’ What’s going to happen when a child is here?”

According to Pamela, “Jay does this a lot. It comes off as like entitlement in a way. He’s had a fluffy life, which is good in a sense of I love how supportive his parents are, but I want to be the role of his wife, not his parents.” She continues, “A newborn needs to get their clothes changed multiple times a day, bed sheets changed multiple times a day, and typically I do all the housework.”

Getting candid about their future, she tells Jay, “When it comes to this children thing, I would appreciate if you put in more work, as in like, participation. Because what I don’t want to happen is all I do is be a mom and a wife, making sure you’re good and the child is good, and you’ll be like, ‘Oh, I’m going to take a nap.’ […] You can’t do that with a child.”

“I just feel frustrated,” Jay fires back. “I just feel like I’m on a scoreboard and I—I don’t know where I stand.”
