‘Camp Rock 3’ Cast on How Cliff’s Crush on Rosie Started & More Romance Secrets
While fans were shocked that Shane (Joe Jonas) and Mitchie (Demi Lovato) had broken up between Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam and Camp Rock 3, the young cast of the franchise’s newest iteration is not convinced that they’re done for good. Following the premiere of Camp Rock 3, Liamani Segura, Lumi Pollack, Hudson Stone, and Casey Trotter sat down with Swooon to take fans inside the sequel’s blossoming romances.
One couple who is clearly heading in the right direction is Sage (Segura) and Fletch (Malachi Barton). According to Segura, “Their relationship slowly evolved over the course of the movie, and it feels very natural. It happened naturally and so innocently.” She added, “And there’s nothing like a camp crush. I think that’s so sweet.” In most cases, “You don’t know if, after camp, you’re gonna see them ever again.”
For Sage and Fletch, going on tour together means exploring their feelings further. “I hope that they’re still together,” Segura revealed. “I think that would be super, super cute. I think that would be so fun. I think they are so cute for each other.”

According to Trotter, his character Cliff’s crush on Rosie (Pollack) started as a bit of character work early in production. “This is actually a funny story,” he explained, “So basically, Veronica [Rodriguez, Camp Rock 3 director] on the first day, she gave us these notebooks… and she’s like, ‘Do a journal entry of your first day on camp. Literally, like 11 a.m. You’re driving into camp. What is your first thing?’ And what I wrote down is like, ‘We were driving in, and I passed by this car and saw the most gorgeous girl ever. I can’t believe I’m going to camp.'” Of course, that gorgeous girl was Rosie.
Right now, Cliff’s feelings aren’t reciprocated, but now that the final five are all going on tour, that could change. Pollack told Swooon, “I guess we’ll see. I think Rosie sees Cliff as a really good friend so far. But you know what? Tour? Who knows?”

The final camp romance is Desi’s (Stone) budding connection with Callie (Brooklynn Pitts), who is not heading on tour with the rest of the friend group. As he put it, “Maybe if there is a Camp Rock 4, we see a little more of those two.”
He revealed, “They have such a sweet relationship. I love that. All my scenes with Brooklynn are just so awesome. She’s so easy to film with. I feel like Desi, at first, he’s motivated by two things. Number one, it’s his whole stepping into the spotlight and wanting to grow with his music and show people his talents and what he can do. And the other side of it is, he thinks this girl’s really cute, and he wants to learn how to dance to get closer to Callie.”
Of course, we couldn’t help but ask these stars about the OG Camp Rock couple: Shane and Mitchie. When asked if they were surprised by Shane and Mitchie’s apparent split, Pollack was quick to share, “We don’t know that, though. Like, said who?” According to Segura, “They’re endgame.”
While a reconnection has not been confirmed yet, Stone made it clear, “There are still sparks. It’s like ‘fire and rain.'” Looks like we’ll need a Camp Rock 4 to explore that romance as well!
