The Met Gala is a very special day for anyone who has ever committed to the bit a little too hard at a themed party.

Held every year on the first Monday in May, the Met Gala is a charity event marking the opening of The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibition. This year, on May 5, the Met Gala will be celebrating the Costume Institute’s newest exhibit: “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

This year, everyone will be looking at red carpet regulars to see what they do with this year’s dress code: “Tailored for You.” According to Vogue, the dress code is a “nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting that’s sure to bring out the sartorial creativity of this year’s attendees.” In other words, expect to see some amazing suits, hats, ties, and more!

As per usual, the guest list is strictly under wraps, and here at Swooon, we’re on the edge of our seats waiting to see which fashion-forward couples will walk the carpet together, or even hard-launch at the event! While we’re not going to speculate about who might be there, we can confirm a few couples that would love to see but DEFINITELY won’t be making an appearance. Why? They don’t exist.

Without any further ado, we’re rolling out the red carpet for the six fictional couples we wish could attend.

Met Gala 2025 Red Carpet, Monday, May 5, 6 p.m., YouTube

Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey as Glinda and Fiyero in 'Wicked'
Everett Collection

Glinda & Fiyero

Oz doesn’t have a Met Gala, but if it did, you just know Glinda (Ariana Grande) and Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) would slay the red (or green) carpet. At Shiz, Glinda treats everyday like a photo op, so we know she’d love to walk up the famous Met steps and would probably even hit us with a “toss, toss” somewhere along the way. Even if Fiyero is only there to support Glinda’s image, we just know their fits would change our lives for good.

Anne Hathaway, Chris Pine in 'The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement'
Buena Vista / Everett Collection

Mia Thermopolis & Nicholas Devereaux

If there’s one thing we’ve always said, it’s that the Met Gala needs more Genovian royalty. Princess Mia is a busy woman, but we’ve seen her closet, so we know she has to have something that would be on theme. As for Nicholas (Chris Pine), he would be there too, but while Mia dazzles, he’d probably be wearing one of those suits that makes you say, “Wow, does everyone have that suit?”

Camila Morrone, Sam Claflin in 'Daisy Jones and the Six'
Lacey Terrell / Amazon / Everett Collection

Camila & Billy Dunne

Daisy Jones & The Six are certainly big enough stars to score an invite to the Met Gala. Whether lead singer Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin) would actually use his plus one to bring his wife Camila (Camila Morrone) is an entirely different story. The way we see it, regardless of whether Camila attends or not, she’ll wake up to hundreds of headlines about Billy Dunne and Daisy Jones’ wild night.

Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn in 'Scandal'
Michael Ansell / ABC

Olivia Pope & Fitzgerald Grant

The artistry of Olivia Pope’s suits is tailor-made for the Met Gala. You know Olivia (Kerry Washington) would actually be on theme, and she’d make sure Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) was, too. Olivia and Fitz would probably set the Met Gala arrivals tent ablaze with their blazing hot chemistry. Fitz would love nothing more than to let Olivia have her fashion moment because his favorite role has always been being Olivia’s arm candy. But let’s be perfectly honest with ourselves: Olivia’s absolutely killing two birds with one stone with her attendance. She would be trying to solve a case that requires her to score an invite to fashion’s biggest night. Let’s just hope B613 get the night off…

Taika Waititi, Rhys Darby in 'Our Flag Means Death'
Nicola Dove / HBO Max / Everett Collection

Stede Bonnet & Edward Teach

No red carpet would be complete without the Gentleman Pirate. From the guest list to the extravagant outfits, we just know Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) would take such joy in the Met Gala. As for Blackbeard (Taika Waititi), as long as leather is on theme, we bet he’d live it up, too. Plus, who needs a limo when you can show up to fancy events in The Revenge?

Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson in 'The Hunger Games'
Murray Close / Lionsgate / Everett Collection

Katniss Everdeen & Peeta Mellark

You just know that if Panem had a Met Gala, President Snow would make all his victors attend. While walking a red carpet may not be their cup of tea, we know that Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) would be wearing the best outfits on the carpet, thanks to Cinna. Does the Met have any rules against accessorizing with fire?
