Will Josh Heuston Play Xaden in ‘Fourth Wing’ TV Series? He Reacts to Casting Rumors
The Fourth Wing TV series is currently in development, and fans are waiting with bated breath for casting news about Violet, Xaden, and the rest of the Basgaith crew.
Heartbreak High and Dune: Prophecy star Josh Heuston has become an early fan-favorite for the role of Xaden in the upcoming adaptation. (He is Swooon’s choice for the role!) The actor was finally asked about the casting rumors and gave some very cryptic answers.
The 7Bravo reporter asked if “we were really here with Xaden,” and the actor replied, “You have to ask the scribes, I suppose.” Take a mental note that he specifically said scribes, a clear nod to Rebecca Yarros’ Empyrean series.

He was prompted about the reporter calling him “Xaden from now on,” and he responded, “Interesting… That’s a great nickname.” The journalist followed up with, “I think it really suits you.”
“Hopefully. Who knows?” Heuston said.
At an Onyx Storm release party in January 2025, Yarros revealed that she had “read two versions of the script now.” She recently posted photos from Los Angeles, where she spent time at the Amazon offices.
The romantasy author has been vocal about her stipulations when it comes to casting Xaden. “They know how staunch I am against whitewashing Xaden,”she told fans at a Q&A. “And so I think that’s the biggest thing.”
Heuston is an Australian actor of Anglo-Sri Lankan descent.
The series doesn’t have a release date yet, but Moira Walley-Beckett will serve as the showrunner. Michael B. Jordan‘s Outlier Society will produce the series.
When Deadline first confirmed the series, the publication reported that there was “potential for each book in Yarros’ series to be developed into its own separate TV project.” Yarros has since released Iron Flame and Onyx Storm as part of her Empyrean book series.
