All About NHL Star William Karlsson’s Marriage to a Bachelor Nation Star
Sports and television have collided amid the Stanley Cup Finals. With the Las Vegas Golden Knights hoping to take home another NHL championship, Emily Ferguson, of Bachelor Nation fame, has a lot to celebrate, as her husband, William Karlsson, is a star forward on the team.
Fans may remember Emily and her twin sister, Haley Ferguson, from Ben Higgins‘ season of The Bachelor in 2016. Emily was eliminated in Week 7, just ahead of Hometown Dates. The sisters returned for Seasons 3 and 4 of Bachelor in Paradise in 2016 and 2017, but quit in Week 4 both times.
While they were unlucky in love on the dating shows, they’ve since found their happily ever afters with professional athletes (Haley’s husband is Oula Palve, who plays in the Swedish Hockey League).

How did Emily Ferguson and William Karsson meet?
Emily and William’s relationship started in 2017 via an Instagram DM, and she made the first move. Emily was already living in Las Vegas when her now-husband was traded to the Golden Knights.
“I just sent him a DM. He got traded to the Vegas Golden Knights, and we’ve never had any professional sports team in Las Vegas,” she told BachelorNation.com. “I knew nothing about hockey and just thought it was a cool sport. It’s just such a weird story. I think it’s so weird that you can meet someone on social media by sending them a DM and now I’m marrying him.”
Emily saw William’s profile on Bumble, so she knew he was single. After they exchanged some DMs, they decided to meet up in person. “We have been inseparable ever since,” she shared. “He always wanted to be around me. Anytime I left the house, he’d ask when I was coming back.”
Funnily enough, it was Emily who hooked her sister up with Oula, too. “I started creeping on all of Will’s hockey friends,” she dished. “And through the long list of me stalking people, I found Oula. We thought he was really cute, but we weren’t sure if he spoke any English because he’s from Finland and all his captions were in Finnish. But she sent him a message and hoped for the best, and the rest is history.”
When did Emily Ferguson and William Karlsson get married?
Emily and William got married in July 2022, one month after Haley and Oula tied the knot. The wedding came after William’s December 2020 proposal.

The pair’s first child, son Beckham, was born in May 2023, followed by another son, Maxwell, in November 2024. On May 29, the couple announced Emily’s pregnancy with another baby boy, due in December 2026.

They reside in Las Vegas. When William’s eight-year contract with the Golden Knights ends after the 2026/2027 season, he will become an unrestricted free agent, and it’s unclear where the future will take them from there.
