‘Love Island USA’: Are Aniya Harvey & Carl Schmidt Still Together?
What To Know
- Aniya Harvey and Carl Schmidt were the runners-up of Love Island USA Season 8.
- They’ve shared posts about each other on social media.
- Their relationship was not made official or exclusive during the season.
Though they didn’t win Love Island USA Season 8, the finale was still a fairytale for runners-up Aniya Harvey and Carl Schmidt. In a literal sense: Their final date was fairytale-themed, complete with a book that charted their connection from when it began during Casa Amor, through when Aniya sent Carl home by staying loyal to OG partner KC Chandler, to Carl’s return to the villa via America’s vote.
Once KC moved forward with Casa bombshell Tierra Davis instead, Aniya and Carl reconnected and finished out the show together. Unlike winners Trinity Tatum and Bryce Dettloff, Carl and Aniya didn’t make their relationship exclusive or official before Season 8 came to an end. Do Aniya and Carl have plans to keep seeing each other in the outside world? Have there been any developments since they left the villa? Swooon has all the latest updates on the fan-favorite pairing below.
Are Aniya and Carl still together?
Aniya and Carl haven’t shared any extensive updates on their relationship status since leaving the villa, but both have indicated on social media that they’re still seeing each other. In Carl’s first Instagram post after the show, he shared a photo of him and Aniya on their final date. “Walls were never really up let’s be honest,” he wrote.
Aniya added it to her own Instagram Story shortly after, captioning it, “My Prince Charming” with a heart-hands emoji.
They also participated in a couples’ challenge shared to Love Island USA‘s Instagram account. So, though official interviews with more details have yet to come out, Aniya and Carl appear to still be together.

They also spoke about their future together during the show. When Carl asked what life outside of the villa would look like, Aniya said, “It would be so cute if we could meet up in Nantucket.”
They spoke about how it’s closer to Aniya’s home state of Georgia compared to Carl’s current home base, Denver. Carl has also spent time in Nantucket throughout his life, per his Instagram.
Aniya also mentioned wanting to learn how to ski, and Carl offered to teach her before saying, “I was a little bit nervous and a little bit hesitant because you know I have to be in Denver for the next three years for PT school. That’s hard when you’re in two different states.”
When Aniya asked if Carl was open to a long-distance relationship, he said, “I’ve tried distance in the past, and it is tough, but I think distance works well if both people have their lives together. We can both kind of grind and grow together kind of deal.”
Aniya agreed. Later, during their first date, the two cheered to “hopefully to more [dates] in the future.” We can only hope they keep us posted on social media from here on out, but we’ll have to wait until the Season 8 reunion in August to see if Carlniya held strong in the outside world.
