If you weren’t tuning into Love Island USA Season 8 from the jump, you might’ve been confused when two final four couples — Trinity Tatum and Bryce Detloff as well as Kayda Bosse and Zach Georgiou — brought up Paradise Cove in the finale episode on July 12. It marked the beginning of both couples’ journeys.
Season 8 introduced a brand-new twist that set the tone for the drama that unfolded throughout the rest of the season. Some of the Islanders went to Paradise Cove in Episode 2, which led to some light throuple action. Yes, you read that right: throuple. As in, production put three Islanders in a bed together. It’s what got Bryce and Zach’s bromance going, and it’s what led to Kayda and Zach coupling up for the first time.

What is the Paradise Cove twist on Love Island USA?
At the end of Episode 1, two new bombshells arrived to whisk away two Islanders each. Kayda took Zach and Bryce, who expressed interest in exploring outside of their partners. For Zach, that was Kenzie Annis, and for Bryce, it was Trinity. Bombshell Gabriel Vasconcelos took Beatriz Hatz and Trinity, who also wanted to explore, to a separate location. They went to a “brand-new island” called Paradise Cove, which was essentially a little hut on the ocean, for 24 hours.
When they got there, each trio found an enormous bed that they had to share. The setup led to some pretty… interesting moments. At one point, Gabriel was making out with Beatriz for what seemed like minutes while Trinity perched silently on the bed next to them. In the other hut, Kayda started kissing Zach in the middle of the night, and Bryce asked for a kiss from her, too. “Sorry, you’re gonna be left out just tonight,” Kayda said. Talk about third-wheeling to the extreme. (Warning: Major spoilers for the Season 8 finale ahead!)

Who would’ve thought that after the Paradise Cove twist, one of the couples that separated would come back together and win it all? Champions Trinity and Bryce may have wanted to keep their options open at the start, but it didn’t take long to realize they wanted each other more than anyone else. They became boyfriend and girlfriend two weeks in before being voted America’s favorite couple of Season 8.
Has Paradise Cove been on Love Island USA before?
We’ve seen love triangles form on Love Island USA, but Paradise Cove was new to Season 8. It was essentially a mini Casa Amor, giving the bombshells access to certain Islanders away from their previous partners, but with three-way bed sharing.
