Sterling Pointmay be a coming-of-age drama, but it’s also a mystery. Over the course of Megan Park‘s hit Prime Video series, Annie (Ella Rubin) seeks answers about why her widowed adoptive father (Jay Duplass) kept her apart from her late maternal grandfather. Once she gets to the small Canadian island that her grandpa left her in his will, Annie gets the full story of what happened to her late adoptive mother, Goldie. (Warning: Sterling Point Season 1 spoilers ahead!)
Annie may put the puzzle pieces of her complicated family history together by the end of Season 1, discovering that her mom separated from her dad, Steven, and had an affair with Joe (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), but not before getting pregnant with Steven’s child, Ramona (Amélie Hoeferle). Complicated? That’s an understatement. Sterling Point Season 1 provides a satisfying conclusion, but there are still plenty of questions left to tackle in a potential Season 2.
Could there be more to the story with Connor (Keen Ruffalo) and Annie’s birth parents? What are the other family secrets that Park teased in an interview with Swooon? Keep reading for all our burning questions as we wait for news on Sterling Point‘s renewal status. Let us know yours in the comment section at the end of the page.

Who are Connor & Annie's birth parents?
At the end of Season 1, Connor gets a response from the adoption agency, who tells him that his birth mother wants to talk. Considering how complicated Annie and Connor’s adoptive family is, could there be any way that their birth parents are somehow connected to the drama? Maybe that’s a bit of a leap, but Sterling Point doesn’t shy away from making things messy. Even if their birth parents aren’t connected to the Sterling Point drama, there’s surely going to be a story there in a potential Season 2.

Will we see Annie go to school in Sterling Point?
Annie plans to stay in Sterling Point for a year while Ramona takes her place in New York City — but we can’t forget that Annie makes that plan at the end of summer, right before her senior year is supposed to start. Will Sterling Point stick to summers only, or could we see Annie and her friends at Sterling Point’s high school — is there a high school? — for a bit in a potential Season 2? This also factors into our next burning question.

Will Rory come back to Sterling Point?
Annie may have picked Ellis (Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie) over Rory (Daniel Quinn-Toye) at the end of the summer, but is that really the end of his Sterling Point road? Especially now that he’s going to Columbia University in the fall? Then again, next season could pick up during the next summer, when Rory could visit his vacation home.
Of Rory’s future in the love triangle, Park told Swooon, “He’s got skin in the game. There’s always going to be a chance for a Rory pop-up, and we always joked Denise probably had like 17 kids with all of her different husbands. So maybe there’s another Denise kid out there, another hot brother.”

Will Oona and Maple's mom come back?
Technically, Park already gave us the answer to this one, in case you were wondering, too. The creator said she wished to dig more into Oona and Maple’s absent, soul-seeking mother, who left her daughters in Canada to travel.
“We also actually did have a whole other subplot line, which I won’t reveal because we’re gonna do in Season 2 with Oona, that we simply just didn’t have script time for because of what we’d already had to do, so there’s a lot more to her backstory and her mom’s backstory that’d be really fun to dig into,” Park added.

Will Oona and Ramona get back together?
We need that Ramoona endgame. Oona and Ramona’s breakup in the Season 1 finale is messy. Oona is pushing Ramona away because of her abandonment issues, but also because she thinks Ramona needs to do what’s best for her: go to New York with no one holding her back. Is there world in which they get back together in a potential second season, should Ramona return to the island next summer? Or will their potential reconciliation be a slower burn? Will they each have other girlfriends in the meantime? We’re ready for the angst.

What other family secrets are there?
We know what your thinking: How much more complicated could this family be? The answer: A lot. Park confirmed that there are more secrets that the writers’ room saved for Season 2. “It’s not all genetic and biological necessarily. It’s different, but there definitely are still secrets and mysteries,” she said. Seriously, we cannot think of any other possible routes they could go, but we welcome more mystery nonetheless.

Will Ramona sell the island? Does she really want to?
In the Season 1 finale, Ramona explains to Annie that selling the island could change her life. She’s been tethered to the island since she was born. But how much of it is her heartbreak — over Oona and the death of her grandpa — talking? We agree with Annie that some distance from the island would be good for Ramona, but will her stance stay the same after being away for a year? Maybe Annie still has some convincing to do next summer.
